About

Washington State University is a public research university in Pullman, Washington. Founded in 1890, WSU is one of the oldest land-grant universities in the American West. WSU is a residential campus. Many freshmen live in residence halls, while some live in fraternity and sorority houses or in off-campus housing. After their first year, many students move to apartments, several owned by WSU.

WSU was ranked tied for 176th nationally and tied for 87th among public universities in the 2021 U.S. News & World Report rankings. It also ranked tied for 69th best undergraduate engineering program at 206 engineering schools whose highest degree is a doctorate. WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine ranked 14th out of 28 evaluated by U.S. News & World Report in 2019.

Students have an opportunity to apply for Graduate Bridge Program. This program is designed to “bridge” the undergraduate and the graduate program for current WSU students. The program helps students to save time and money, by allowing students to earn credit towards both degrees simultaneously, and helps create a smooth transition into their master’s program upon graduation.

WSU has transformed me into a social, happy, life-loving student, friend, and member of the community. It has changed my outlook on life- I have been immersed in so many opportunities, such a diverse population, and a feeling of family that I wound't change for anything. I joined a greek chapter, which has provided many fun times and great memories, as well as important responsibilities and a great support system. I am a part of the honors college, which I love being able to have a specific cohort that I can interact with, plus the Honors professors are amazing. I would recommend WSU to any person of any type. Go Cougs!

I am currently a junior at WSU, and I absolutely love it. This campus and the people here are truly something special. They have changed me personally into a more social, content and adventurous person than I even thought I could be. I am a member of the greek system, in which I have gained forever friendships and memories, as well as an amazing support system and educational motivation. I also am proud to be an honors student, where I like having a different group of people to interact with and push my thoughts and ideas, and the professors are amazing. WSU is truly a family, you can't describe it from the inside very well- but once your're a coug, you'll know exactly what it feels like. Best decision of my life.
