Founded in 1895, The Gilbert School is a private, co-educational school located in Winsted, Connecticut. It was ranked in top 7% of US Schools by US News & World Report in 2018 (Silver Medal Award).

The Gilbert School offers the perfect location for younger students to begin their journey in the United States. It is located two hours between Boston and New York City. Set on a campus of 120 acres, Gilbert offers strong fine arts and music curriculum, as well as 19 sports teams and over 50 clubs and activities.

I am making friends who are helping me when I don’t understand things. The teachers are helping with all my questions. I do ask the teachers a lot of questions. There is a lot of homework but I am asking my dorm friends to help me out. After homework I get to go out and play basketball on the outside court. That is fun.

I really enjoyed my time at Gilbert! I was able to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities, especially in the Music Department. The teachers at the school are really nice and supportive. They are always willing to stay after school and help us. The class size is small so the teachers can pay individual attention to the students. The school also offers many AP classes and has a local college partnership where we can take college classes with no additional cost. I really thank all the faulty and staff at Gilbert. They truly made a difference in my life.

High School Diploma

The Gilbert School offers 13 Honors and 10 Advanced Placement (AP) level classes, which allow students to stretch themselves academically, while resource classes, peer tutoring and other remediation opportunities help students who require additional assistance.

For students who need additional English skills, The Gilbert School offers a range of dedicated English language courses as part of the Diploma program.
