"The four years I spent at Birkbeck were some of the most challenging I have ever spent, but also some of the most rewarding. Going back to education in my late twenties left me with a much more serious/studious attitude towards my studies. Having lived a little bit more allowed me to understand and enjoy the learning in ways I feel I probably wouldn't have if I'd gone straight to university from school. The confidence and ability that I now have in my life and career are much higher than before I graduated. I didn't undertake the degree for any clear prior reason, but soon into the course realised that learning purely for the sake of learning itself is what spurred me on and still does even after finishing the course. Birkbeck's BA Geography and Environment course is so well taught, so interesting and crosses so many academic boundaries I feel, that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who just wants to know more about the world in which we live."
